Guided by the gasps of our doddering president, America "is back," so rejoice--on this post's composition date--it's Flag Day, Donald Trump's birthday. Let's embrace the notion, born of wishful thinking and weariness, that Covid-19 has receded to a less concerning threat.
A summer of no Covid, stay away, vibes and practices associated with lockdown and masks. Learn of Fauci's lies or don't care as a new season beckons. Incompetence of Trump administration response, but the president did about as well with a worldwide plague as we should've expected. Would George W. Bush have not concealed information about the pandemic, not looked to satisfy ultra-wealthy interests while neglecting the needs of the poor, middle class, and homeless?
Now, we still have Fauci, who urged Americans to not wear masks early on in the pandemic, even though their efficacy was known for diminishing rate of viral spread. Also, we have an austerity strategy (at the wrong time), congealed inside the dying mind of an evil old power broker passing himself off as a regular Joe.
Prince Philip's death at the tender age of 937 brings to mind the long-lasting Elizabeth (Queen of England for longer than I've been alive), her elderly son Charles, his two vigorous youthful sons and the
women they married, and how we're supposed to care about these tax-subsidized rich people who happen to be descended from William the Conqueror.
How much longer does the British royal institution have?
Are sentimental Brits keeping it vital? Prince Harry married an actress--continuous entertainment news. Prince William and Duchess Kate have produced a future heir. Prince Andrew won't talk to FBI agents--I don't blame him for not wanting to talk to government cops, because who does?--but it's absurd and unjust how he can just get away with that, obstructing an investigation into Jeffrey Epstein (Andrew's friend and alleged supplier of the royal son's statutory rape victims).
The Royals provide entertainment. They haven't practiced politics in an absolute manner since the Renaissance, relegated to symbolic functions, as when a new prime minister must have a meeting with the Queen. As a British version of Hollywood celebrity culture, though, some find them delicious.
Biden took a trip to Geneva, Switzerland, where Jean-Luc Godard made his political film, Le Petit Soldat, debut of Anna Karina. Do you want to see Geneva in 1960? Watch that film.
Biden, never wanting to give up a chance to boast about the strength of high tech military machines' ability to incinerate human flesh, reasserted the traditional role of NATO as a bulwark, but against what? Communism? China, on the world's other side from the North Atlantic Ocean? Poor, brutalized Afghanistan? Venezuela, victim of a blockade that kills and puts the hurt on ordinary people there? Syria? Do any of NATO's victims have any relation in geography with the North Atlantic?
Current views among American national security cultists, really going back at least to 2014 when the Obama administration overthrew the Ukrainian government and fomented war by proxy with Russia, hold that Ukraine must be made a NATO member. Poland, bordering the Baltic Sea, along with Turkey bordering the Mediterranean, are both NATO members, what the fuck? Why not make Malaysia a NATO member, then?
My view on NATO can be illustrated by one of Donald Trump's best presidential moments: when he ripped on NATO leaders to their faces for not paying enough money into the organization. I didn't agree with Trump's angle on it, but I enjoyed the looks on the faces of leaders of a murderous and sociopathic organization protecting the interests of international finance over human lives, as they looked at Trump, aghast at the man's audacity.
He's not polite to us! We, who blow up children in Afghanistan, who obliterated the former Yugoslavia, and numerous other crimes against humanity.
News cameras showed reaction shots of the mass murderers as they listened to the buffoon chastising them about paying more into their human rights-violating organization.
TRUMP ROASTS NATO, should have been a headline at the time.
NATO ROASTS BELGRADE, KILLS APPROX. 500 CIVILIANS, would have been an accurate
headline in 1999.
Biden brings respect for NATO back for us, even as he makes a few reasonable and necessary compromises with Vladimir Putin. Ambassadors will return to their assignments after Biden, whose epic lack of self-awareness and shame led him to accuse Putin of murder (Putin's body count compared to any U.S. president's in my lifetime of fifty-six years is smaller by far). The START nuclear treaty abandoned by Trump (the supposed Putin puppet) will be renegotiated.
These minimal requirements at achieving human decency (relying on diplomacy instead of hypocritical stances towards foreign leaders, and also seeking to prevent World War Three through a war with Russia) supposedly make Biden a more competent leader than Trump. If I were running the United States I would withdraw entirely from NATO, declare it to be a ridiculous, outdated, and murderous organization based on how much of our shit we can smear on the world while blaming those shit-covered for the stink.
Mikhail Gorbachev said in 2017, "...it all looks as if the world is preparing for war."
Four years later that looks like even more the case. Russiagate was not only a lies-based intelligence operation against Donald Trump. The purpose was to fuel American distrust of the other, of Russia and Putin, along with that country's alleged imperialism (a gross joke, when compared to current U.S. disruptions and war-making in numerous countries in Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia).
Money was in the mix, too. News media corporations owning MSNBC, CNN, New York Times, Washington Post, all profited from the myth that Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin were plotting to destroy America. Rachel Maddow, perhaps the worst Russiagate pusher, saw her ratings climb, her prominence and salary shine, even as she loaned her name and previous good reputation to a project serving the interests of the intelligence community and the war machine that helps fund her network. What an evil fucking monster she is, but that's not polite talk, I guess, because she seems so nice, she's funny and she's a lesbian, so she must be good. Yes, so good that she spent five evenings a week for over two years selling to her watchers a preposterous conspiracy theory dismantled, officially, by Robert Mueller himself in July 2019.
I figured out that Russiagate was bullshit in February 2017, when it was a new thing. I noticed that everyone I saw on cable news pushing the idea was connected to the intelligence community. From years of study, plus common sense, I knew that the intelligence community is full of liars. I didn't trust what I heard coming out of the mouths of MSNBC guests on that subject, or any other. In 2002 and 2003 I heard many of the same types of people, including some of the same people, like Bill Kristol, insist "we" needed to preemptively attack Iraq before Saddam Hussein could unleash nuclear terror on a major American city.
Holy shit! Hussein has long range missiles that can reach America? No. He has nuclear weapons that could be transported without detection to the United States? No, his nuclear weapons program was completely dismantled by UN inspection teams in 1991. He's acquired yellowcake uranium from Niger? No, documents pertaining to that were forged, and incompetently.
A million dead Iraqis later, Rachel Maddow's viewers (of course, she's not the only manipulator of truth as well as conspiracy theory peddler in news media) bought into Russiagate, a theory fitting their view of Donald Trump. One unfortunate result of this is that Maddow, and others of her shit journalism kind, failed to concentrate on Trump's real criminal business practices, such as hiring workers to build for him and then failing to pay them properly, or at all. Or his business empire's profiting during his presidency.
The truth about Donald Trump isn't his servitude to Putin or anyone else. It's his role as a typical rich American capitalist fuck whose business life is dedicated to screwing people for his own gain, a practice he shares with Jeff Bezos, Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, the Clintons, Mark Zuckerberg, Elon Musk, and even mere millionaires like Mitt Romney and Barack Obama.
For Maddow, herself a millionaire, to pick on Donald Trump for two years about some made up theory concocted by murderers like Obama's CIA director John Brennan (a frequent Maddow guest), just shows what a hollow human being she is, having willingly deprived herself of any capability of reporting on substantive issues, in service to a war machine that starves Yemeni children to death. Good job, Rachel, but just realize that when you're in Hell, Satan will not cash your paychecks.
I'm not singling her out because she's a woman or a lesbian. I'm singling her out because she's a monster who serves evil.
This post took me ten days to write. Actually, just a few days because I didn't work on it much on any given day. Prince Philip died. The Queen met with Joe Biden. Boris Johnson's wife and Biden's wife walked together on a Cornwall beach at the time of the G7 Summit--somehow that was news. Everybody was polite. There was much rejoicing.
Finally, an uncouth president (I'm assuming Biden didn't try to sniff the royal hairdo).
We're so lucky that decorum prevails in a world run by well-mannered mass murderers.
