Today I watched President Zelensky and Ukraine's Prime Minister and Head of Parliament sign an "accelerated application for NATO membership." At a table set up in the middle of a street, the three men wore olive drab military-style clothing. I thought of how Zelensky has committed himself to wearing this outfit, wondering about whether or not he peels it off as soon as he's not on camera. What does he do when he's not making propaganda?
My country, the U.S., has committed itself to sending many billions of dollars worth of weapons to the Russia-Ukraine War. Zelensky's costume, along with that of two top government officials, links in to a state of mind, saying, "We are at war, we are a bulwark against Russian aggression. We will not remove our olive drab until the enemy is vanquished."
Send more weapons, bankrupt your countries, European Union, it's all for democracy defending itself, a "democracy" in the most corrupt European nation, Ukraine, a place where Zelensky banned all news media outlets not promoting his propaganda. That's democracy. As the green-clad men signed the paper, the last one thoughtfully replacing the pen cap, I thought about how this ceremony, conducted on a city street in, I assume, Kyiv, laid bare a minimalist image set against a backdrop of massive numbers of Ukrainian casualties and reports of soldiers on the front lines revolting because supplies don't reach them. CBS news network did a story (retracted because it got too close to the ugly truth) detailing how only thirty percent of arms reach Ukraine's military, the rest vanishing into black markets, with some ending up in the hands of ISIS in Syria. Well done, America.
Meanwhile, President Biden stands with Ukraine, along with the militaries of NATO nations. Money galore is being made off of this nightmare. Suppliers to Zelensky's government forces don't give a fuck about the people of Ukraine. Did President Bush care about Iraqis when he claimed to be saving them from Saddam Hussein, who was supported by the U.S. throughout the 1980s?
Pen scratches across the NATO-application sheets may lead to the end of the world, that is, human civilizations worldwide. I make this not so wild statement because if Ukraine becomes a NATO country, Russia, now involved in its war to maintain security in the four regions just recently made autonomous from Ukraine, will defend those regions, with spillover into Ukraine proper. Article 5 of the NATO Treaty states that an attack on one nation is an attack on all, meaning overt, rather than covert, war between NATO nations and Russia can and probably will break out.
The seriousness of this situation cannot be overstated. What I see is a group of nations' leaders believing they can take on Russia in an all out war, or perhaps finessing it so it doesn't reach nuclear proportions, but with millions killed. I wouldn't gamble on such a war not going nuclear, but then, I'm not a psychopathic politician like Joe Biden, the U.K.'s Liz Truss, or Zelensky.
The purpose of the war is to gain the upper hand over Russia, having provoked that nation into invading a puppet state run by criminals linked with Nazi and other extremist groups. The war was hoped for by the Obama-Biden administration, using Ukraine as a sharp wedge against Russian interests.
Three years of Russiagate (a lie concocted by the Hillary Clinton campaign with the aid of MI-6 and the FBI) prepped Americans to distrust Russia, but that followed on the Cold War lasting from the 1940s to the early 1990s. The Bill Clinton administration tampered with Russian electoral processes, foisting Boris Yeltsin on the Russian people, looting the country meanwhile.
I may seem anti-American by pointing out historical facts, but really, I'm a realist who knows that the political classes of countries around the world are filled with criminals. What do you call politicians, as in the U.S. Congress and in the White House, who knowingly give the green light to billions of dollars worth of weapons shipments to kill people and blow up infrastructure, additionally knowing the majority of those weapons end up elsewhere, including in the hands of people they condemn as terrorists? I call them psychopaths. I call the leaders of NATO nations psychopaths--these same idiotic and cruel jokes of human beings who antagonize the nation supplying them with their energy, oblivious to the wishes of their people, who go into the streets and protest their governments' support of a corrupt Ukrainian government.
Nordstream 1 and Nordstream 2 pipelines were attacked, possibly with underwater drones. No nation has taken responsibility for this act of ecoterrorism, but the culprit is most definitely not Russia, as reported in conventional U.S. press sources. Russia has the means to turn off the flow. Why would they go to the trouble of blowing it up? Joe Biden, however, explicitly stated before the Russian invasion that in the event of such a war the Nordstream pipelines would be ended.
Meanwhile, German citizens have to deal with their government's punch-themselves-in-the-dick decisions. America, too, is dealing with high gas prices and inflation related directly to the Russia-Ukraine War. Biden has lost the favor of his ally, Saudi Arabia.
America, bristling with weapons and lunatics in government willing to employ them, is in a position of having lost the respect of many nations. I believe millions of people around the world, especially in the European Union, are coming to regard the U.S. and NATO as their worst adversary. How appealing is it to suffer a cold winter and huge energy bills, high inflation, the wiping out of savings, for the sake of propping up Zelensky and his olive drab colleagues? Something has to give.
I fear the outcome that may be upon us, but I also think "the cooler heads will prevail" theory of emergency situations may yet come about, with those above Biden in the food chain of power forcing NATO to make peace with Putin and then put Zelensky on an island somewhere in the Pacific Ocean. There, he can a wear a Hawaiian shirt instead of olive drab and reflect on how he, a comedian and actor, got away with almost destroying the world. His Hollywood admirer, Ben Stiller, could make a movie about it.
