Ending life on Earth, a crazy idea, obviously, nevertheless appears to appeal to some people in charge of United States and United Kingdom foreign policy. These two most belligerent NATO member states aggravate, as a matter of policy, tensions with Russia, using the ongoing war in Ukraine as a pretext for a wild notion of overthrowing current Russian authority, starting with President Vladimir Putin.
Democratic presidential candidate Marianne Williamson, Oprah Winfrey's "spiritual guru," related to journalist Glenn Greenwald her judgment of Putin as a "brutal dictator" who had no legitimate justification for "invading Ukraine," never mind that the Russians entered a civil war, ongoing since 2014, to stop Ukraine's army from shelling the majority-ethnic Russian Donbas provinces.
Williamson, whether she knows the background to the current war or not, uses the same rhetoric one hears from most U.S. politicians and mainstream news commentators and print journalists: Invasion of Ukraine's territory by Russian troops cannot be justified. Williamson, and these politicians and mainstream media people, have far less judgmental statements to make about President Zelensky, the actor/politician whose hunger for U.S. and Western European weapons systems is nearly as insatiable as NATO members' profit-driven motivation to feed him and his bellicose endeavor that's destroying his country.
Marianne Williamson told Glenn Greenwald she's unconcerned about anything Zelensky's said in the past, but focuses on what he says now: His apparent willingness to meet with China's President Xi to discuss a peace proposal seems a good sign; I think so, too. It runs counter, though, to Washington and NATO war hawks who want to see this war continue, for "bleeding Russia" is their goal. Since at least 200,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed since February 24, 2022, five to eight times as many Russian soldiers, it seems unlikely, so far, that Russia's going to lose, barring a massive influx of NATO troops, an action increasing the likelihood of nuclear war.
Marianne Williamson, a Democrat, doesn't seem to realize or want to admit that her own party is one-hundred percent in favor of arming Ukraine, the activity keeping the war going. Secretary of State Antony Blinken has spoken recently of the undesirability of peace as sought by Xi and, believe it or not, Putin. Peace, or a cease fire, would, according to Blinken, give the Russians time to build their strength. Blinken and every Democrat in Washington wants this war to go on indefinitely, just as the Bush and Obama administrations wanted the U.S.-Afghanistan war and occupation to continue, as it did for nineteen years, enriching the military-industrial-congressional complex. Ukraine, like Afghanistan, is a rigged slot machine producing profit for a virtual Mafia of weapons manufacturers, arms dealers, lobbyists and politicians.
There is no changing these people for the better. Sociopaths don't have consciences.
Marianne Williamson, lacking the ability to express, or just not knowing, the long-term impact of the 2014 coup in Ukraine, carried out by the Obama administration, reveals her as just another tool of empire, going along with her party's imperialism while advocating peace, but ignoring NATO's role in provoking Russia.
Williamson is spiritual advisor to Oprah Winfrey, who has a net worth of two and a half billion dollars. How about giving spiritual, but especially humanitarian help to Syrians and Somalians, countries invaded and occupied by U.S. troops during Joe Biden's administration?
